V-belts
The V-Belt is an important part used to transmit motive force from the engine to the fan, water pump, alternator and air conditioner compressor.
Features of the V-belt:- Sure transmission of motive force
- No stretching or expansion under sustained tension
- High wear resistance
Komatsu genuine V-belts have the following unique features that provide long life:- The belt is tooth-shaped, which makes it possible to fasten it reliably in the sheave groove and obtain a more efficient transmission of motive force.
- The central layer of the detail is made of polyester tension-resistant fiber which guarantees long life.
- The upper and the lower layers of the belt are made of thick cotton fabric that does not stretch and has high tension resistance properties providing a long life of the detail.
- The rubber part of the belt is made of synthetic rubber of high durability.
- If a worn belt is used, an overheating of the engine or wrong battery charging may occur (the battery will not be charged properly).
To obtain top performance of your machine you should regularly check the V-belt.- Methods of checking and installment of V-belts differ from machine to machine. More detailed information may be found in the operating manual of a given machine.
If your checks detect a problem with the V-belt, the latter should be immediately replaced. In case the machine is equipped with double or triple belts, it is necessary to replace the whole set even if only one of the belts is out of order. This must be done in order to prevent damage to the bearings, the roll or the sheave wheel that may be caused by maldistribution of tension.
