Cylinder Liners

Wet and dry type liners are used in Komatsu engines. The inside surface of most cylinder liners are nitrided in order to reduce excessive wear and prevent scuffing.

Pistons

Aluminium and ductile cast iron pistons are used in Komatsu engines for high durability and reliability.

Piston Rings

The purpose of piston rings is to seal compression gas pressure inside the cylinder wall, and to transmit heat from the piston to the cylinder liner. They are made of special cast iron with high thermal resisting and wear-proof properties.

Bearings

These bearings support the running portion of crankshaft under heavy pressure and high speed running motion. Each bearing is made of a single metal (as the base metal) but also has lining (intermediate layer) and overlay (surface layer) that provide a higher degree of reliability.
